- If there is something that repulses you in the people around you, then you are guaranteed to have that repulsive quality within you.
- No matter what rules of behavior you follow, there is a reflection of your principled self inside of you that seeks to bend you to do the exact opposite at the first opportunity. You have to expend a lot of effort and energy to keep that reflection in check.
- No matter how positively you position yourself, inside you there is a set of totally opposite qualities presented to you.
- The more compassion and nobility you try to show, the more treacherous and violent qualities form within you.
- Any of your rules of conduct or intentions have their opposites in your subconscious. This explains the occasions when you cannot control yourself. It’s just that these opposites become in charge, controlling you, at some point. There are no right moments for such occasions-it always happens when you least expect it. Until you face these opposites and accept them, these instances will recur.
- The desire to study spiritual practices is simple – deep inside you is a worldly, earthly person who takes pleasure in earthly pleasures. He will draw you to earth with a force that is directly proportional to your desire for spiritual development. As long as you do not satisfy your earthly nature, it will continue to be your stumbling block in your spiritual development.
- Every aspiration is in fact an estrangement. This is due to the opposites that live within you.
- Once you begin to analyze and give and evaluating your actions and your thoughts…and labeling them as bad and wrong, your inner energy starts working against you-it pushes you to do those things more and more often. This action is destructive.
- Nothing should be called sin. By declaring any act or thought to be a sin, your subconscious mind is experiencing pride and begins to deny it. Denial creates a force that fills you with the desire to commit that sin. This force works against your desire.
These concepts can help you to do what you really want to do, rather than succumbing to a destructive force. Whether you use them or not is your choice.
It is very important to realize clearly that each of us is a very ordinary person, with strengths and weaknesses. Everyone has weaknesses and qualities that we can very easily get caught up in. Each of us is prone to irritability.
As you get to know yourself, you get on the path of wisdom, and that path is lined with opportunities to show compassion to others. Sooner or later, compassion takes a form in which it is shown to the world around us. It makes the world a better place; compassion is a tool that can cleanse the world.
