Let’s talk about silence, shall we? It seems to me that this topic is very urgent, especially nowadays when the world is full of information and requires from us constant communication both in everyday life and in the endless Internet space.
For me it has long been evident that most conversations, take away a lot of energy, which could be spent in a useful direction.
It’s obvious! In every word we put a certain message and energy and that’s how we get that cocktail into space. And if you expand on the main topics of conversation and the whirlpool of thoughts that follows them, the chaotic and unstable nature of our minds becomes more than apparent. What’s there to hide, it’s not just that we stop hearing and understanding people and the world, we completely disconnect from ourselves. “The subscriber is out of range,” we hear when we try to figure out what we want or where we want to go.
The practice of silence has always existed in various spiritual traditions and movements. And it implies not just a refusal to speak, but a deep state of silence of the mind, a state of inner stillness. It is one of the most accessible and effective means to restore inner strength and establish contact with one’s essence, to bring harmony into one’s inner world.
It is a subtle practice and, although at first glance it seems very simple, it nevertheless requires a certain attitude and determination. Stop talking is not difficult, but it is impossible to stop the mental flow on the fly. And yet the very act of silence triggers the process of conserving a lot of energy and triggers the process of digesting incomplete internal processes, which in turn leads to clarity of consciousness and inner balance. And agree, everyone has a chance to immerse themselves in silence, all it takes is a sincere desire to do so.
You can start with small silent days once a week. Go out into nature for a day, turn off phones and other beeps and blinkers, and be silent at full power and with all your heart. And if you want to arrange yourself a mini silent retreat at home, it is better to take care that everything necessary was at hand, so that there is no reason to go outside, because there is a great temptation to talk, and cohabitants to send on a good place, to visit someone or to the cottage, for example. And of course we do not forget that it is important to exclude virtual communication, so TV, radio, Internet and other similar sources of information, we also send to sleep.
It seems that we have no one to talk to, but the most important interlocutor remains with us. is ourselves. So what is to be done with the inner dialogue? And it becomes more obvious during the practice of silence. Thoughts literally boil in the head. It’s that mess that gets brewed. It’s always nice to get to know your own junk, isn’t it, especially this close?)
It’s actually a good sign of the beginning of inner work. You just have to keep going and explore layer after layer of your inner dialogues and in time you’ll gain transparency of perception and a special invulnerability.
You will learn to truly listen to yourself and the people around you. And if you are silent long enough, you can hear the melody of life, which has an inexpressible depth and beauty. I wish you to sound in tune with this melody and broadcast your inner music to the world!)
With love, Maria Shakti
