I never would have thought that voice would have such a profound effect on my development as a person and a woman. But life is very interesting and unpredictable and thankfully it has given me the opportunity to get in touch with the infinite potential and power of the voice.
Everyone has a voice
I would like to say that I have never been gifted with a beautiful natural voice and when I had an opportunity to sing my voice was absolutely unrevealed, unsure and hidden deep down under different layers of physical and psychological blocks. And here began the most interesting and exciting part.
Going forward, I would like to share the truth, which has been passed down through me, that in order to awaken your voice and make it deep and rich, you do not have to be a singer or a public speaker by birth. I started actively awakening my voice about 5 years ago in India and, my voice journey began and, still continues with the mantras.
Although the mantras have been very supportive to me in the deep transformation process, yet the journey has not always been easy or pleasant. Beyond the first glimpses of voice, shame began to rise from the dark depths of my subconscious, old resentments vulnerability, oversensitivity, and denial of self.
We most often don’t like the sound of our own voice.
Have you ever noticed that when you hear your voice on a recording, you immediately want to vanish into thin air? So many people do not recognize their voice and consider it a mistake of nature, but it is the subtlest form of our soul at the level of physics. It is a gift through which we can not only connect with others, but first and foremost with ourselves.
When we begin to work with the voice, unpacking it layer by layer, supporting ourselves on this journey with love and care, we begin a true encounter with our unique identity. Along with the awakening of voice awareness, we can change not only our own state, but also transform the space and the people around us. The voice becomes a very powerful and transformative tool.
When the voice is filled with power, then the words have a special vitality and ability to give support, hope, faith, confidence and many other qualities that people around us may need. Then we become heard and understood, then our speech becomes sincere and pervasive. There is an article on this topic about, How to get rid of fear of public speaking.
Notice, we are not talking about how to control and manipulate with the voice, we are talking about how to make yourself and the world harmonious with it. And our task is not to make the voice similar to the generally accepted standards of beauty, our task is to recognize, accept and love your voice, just then it will become an active gift and will sound with its unique timbre, texture and depth.
Simple Voice Opening Techniques
There are many techniques and materials to uncover the voice these days. Everyone can choose a program of their own taste and preference. From myself, I can advise a very simple and uncomplicated recommendation for beginning to work with the voice.
- Read an excerpt from your favorite book or poem and record it on a Dictaphone, then relax and listen to the recording, observing your sensations and reactions.
- Then close your eyes, put your hands over your heart and talk to your voice, confess your love to it. Then once again record a free-form speech or read something interesting and listen to it again with love, trying to find those manifestations of your voice that you like or in which there is potential.
- Then take a piece of paper and a pen and write down the strengths of your voice. Do this exercise as often as you can, listen to your voice, and observe other people’s voices.
Look for the beauty and uniqueness of your voice. And, of course, imbue your words with love, honesty and sincerity, then they will always be fulfilling and world-changing.
Be in harmony with yourself and the world.
