How to be yourself?

How do you become yourself and what does it mean to be yourself? Articles

Remember that legendary Hamlet question, “To be or not to be?” Unfortunately, this echo of the Middle Ages still sits firmly in people’s minds. People ask themselves Hamlet’s question more often than they ask “Who am I really?” and “How do I be myself?”

In fact – being yourself is “being” everything. And it’s not worth wasting time looking for answers to rhetorical questions. But who are each of us really?

Two halves of the planet.

accepting yourself fullyConventionally, we can divide all humanity into two halves – the first half lives its life, managing it independently, and the second half adapts to the established rules. The so-called “opportunists.

The boundary between these halves is very clear and can be seen if you look closely at those who surround us.

Who is in charge?

If you ask anyone who makes decisions in their life, they will want to answer, “Me, of course! But almost always that answer turns out to be a lie. And first of all, a lie to himself.

And what is inside?

Not every person will risk looking inside themselves, some are even afraid to think about it. Their fears have a right to life – you never know what (or who) you will actually see there.

acceptance of self

Everyone has their own subjective image, formed over the years. Have you ever noticed how often the occasional overheard conversation about yourself causes outrage? It seems that people are unfair and just slanderous, because you are not like that at all! Now remember what your voice sounds like on tape?

What emotions did you feel when you first heard it? Did you think it was the voice a completely different person? It’s the same with personality traits. That’s why it’s really scary to look inside yourself.

It’s hard to really be yourself.

Because of the fears of looking inside and finding out who you really are, it’s really hard to learn to be yourself. After all, it’s so much more convenient to put on a familiar mask and continue to be socially active than it is to just accept yourself.

Who knows, maybe the one on the inside is mentally unstable? Or he has no aspirations or values in life? What if he is pathologically lazy and doesn’t want to strive for anything?

Familiar fears? They have absolutely no basis in fact. There is no “I” that is predetermined by destiny. Becoming yourself means looking inside and starting to create a new self. The real you, without unreasonable fears.

The principle of the mirrorfreedom

It’s not easy to recognize yourself. So you can use the principle of the mirror. The people around us are a reflection of us. If a person irritates us or we feel admiration – it means that inside you there is something that is very similar to this person, but you try to hide it as deeply as possible. Two poles of the same whole

The good and the bad are in all of us, and they are part of one whole, one person. If you forbid yourself the bad, the good will also be blocked – it’s a pattern. You don’t have to hide your sides, whether you like them or not. Look them in the face, and then your good side will be more and more visible. Both poles, the bad and the good, need to be on a conscious level.

The Price of True Freedom

True freedom can only be achieved by being truly aware of all your good and bad sides, and by accepting yourself. By accepting ourselves, we become kinder, and the whole world becomes kinder to us in return. It’s a law that runs smoothly.

To accept ourselves and live our lives is what it means to be ourselves. Only then will decisions be made by us. Only then will our decisions be a conscious choice and not a reaction to an irritant.
