Transpersonal Psychology

Transpersonal Psychology and Psychotherapy Articles

transpersonal psychologyA field such as transpersonal psychology is relatively new in traditional psychology.

It explains mental phenomena in terms of mystical experiences.

This direction appeared in the United States in the late 1960s on the basis of the transpersonal project. The founder of this direction is S. Grof.

This technique works with the deep layers of the unconscious, through altered states of consciousness, using various trance practices and meditative techniques, it is also called transpersonal psychotherapy.

Stanislav Grof Originally used the hallucinogen LSD for therapeutic purposes; later he created a technique which made it possible to achieve the same effect without using LSD. This technique is called “holotropic breathing” She is a combination of a special technique of breathing under specially selected music.

A person who practices such breathing is able to go beyond his/her ordinary consciousness, he/she overcomes spatial and temporal limitations and discovers his/her connection with the impersonal cosmos and the spirit. Each of us is able to have a transpersonal experience because the human psyche essentially contains the entire universe and all its immense and beyond our comprehension processes. Each person has true potential experiential access to every part of the Universe, and is literally a cosmic network.

Transpersonal experiences involve experiences in which a sense of identity transcends the individual or personal self,

encompassing the human experience as a whole, life, the cosmos, and spirit.

This area of psychology has strong therapeutic potential and has a huge impact on creativity and self-development.

The techniques that allow one to dive into the layers of the unconscious will first awaken the senses: different bodily sensations (physical barrier), emotions (when one wants to laugh or cry – emotional barrier), there are visual images, there are sound noises that are perceived as ringing in the ears, humming, high frequency sounds.

Such sensory experiences are the “sensory barrier” that must be overcome before beginning to dive into the layers of the unconscious sphere of the psyche.

The next stage of experience is the experience of the individual unconscious – when any events from a person’s life can surface: any unresolved conflict any unresolved conflict, displaced traumatic experiences or critical life events from the moment of birth to the present moment.

Mental and physical traumas experienced in life may be forgotten or repressed, but they continue to be stored in the unconscious sphere of the psyche and of course influence emotional and psychosomatic disorders such as: depression, fears, increased anxiety, phobias, sexual disorders, headaches (migraines), asthma, etc.

At the next level, a person touches the unconscious sphere of the perinatal level: the experience of death and the new birth. Such experiences are expressed in four “basic perinatal matrices” (BPM), which were formed during the four clinical stages of biological birth. Perinatal matrices are the deep layers of the unconscious, which contain the memory of the human body from the moment of conception to the completion of birth.

When one experiences a connection with the collective unconscious, the information field of the universe, one interprets them as a return to past incarnations of all beings who have ever lived.

Experiences in transpersonal psychotherapy

Transpersonal experience is lived as a profound experience of the identity of one’s consciousness with the consciousness of plants, animals, and even inanimate objects,

transpersonal psychotherapyEvents from macrocosm and microcosm, from areas that are inaccessible to human senses, or from periods that historically preceded the birth of the solar system, Planet Earth, living organisms, are also lived during transpersonal immersion.

To summarize, transpersonal techniques enable each person not only to touch and live, but even to realize the unity of existence, which leads to the release and transcendence of one’s own self.

We live in a wonderful time when each of us is able to touch the secret, profound knowledge that is stored in the depths of our shared unconscious. I invite you to embark on an amazing journey, to become a discoverer of your own inner limitless world. Such a profound experience you can experience at a seminar-training “Mystery of Life” in St. Petersburg and other cities. You can read the testimonials of the participants on the seminar description page.
